HP plans Fools' Day release for Win CE handhelds
Hewlett-Packard has pencilled in an April 1 release for the UK launch of its first Windows CE handheld PCs.
The line will embrace two models, the basic 300 and more advanced 320 device. The 320 will benefit from more RAM, a backlit screen, infra-red serial communications and a ROM with Microsoft Internet Explorer embedded, said HP handheld PC business manager Kirstine Mayall. The system will also support the new generation of CompactFlash tiny-format Flash memory cards.
US pricing is expected to be in the range of $500 for the 300 and $700 for the 320 model. UK pricing was unavailable at time of press.
