HP Q1: Economic slowdown hits growth

Hewlett-Packard reported Tuesday first quarter earning of $960m (£580m) up 3 percent on last year. The earnings were above Wall Street's estimate.

CEO of Hewlett-Packard Lewis E. Platt remained cautiously optimistic. "We've achieved a good profit outcome despite softness in some of our businesses and weak revenue growth," he said.

Platt blamed the economic environment for the slow growth and drew on HP's Internet focus to "get back on a solid growth path".
