New Intel® Netstructuretm systems for B2B aims to accelerate and prioritize XML-based e-commerce.

SINGAPORE, 12 June 2000 - Intel Corporation today announced two new network devices, the Intel® NetStructuretm 7280 XML Director and 7210 XML Accelerator, for processing of secure business-to-business (B2B) transactions over the Internet.

These devices will control and direct Internet transactions based on XML (extensible markup language).

By allowing different legacy computer systems to "talk to each other", XML permits the sharing of businesss information like order entry, pricing and inventory levels, thus improving efficiencies and reducing costs. Industry experts believe that XML will be the basis for all B2B Internet activity in the future.

Due to ship in quantity in the third quarter of this year, the new products are already being piloted at selected B2B Internet companies.

Both products accelerate and secure XML-based Internet transactions ao that B2B e-commerce can take place faster and more reliably. The transactions may be prioritized based on any number of user-defined criteria.

The new devices fit into e-business data center racks used by hosting service providers (HSPs) and application service providers (ASPs), as well as at companies choosing to operate their own e-business data centers.

Intel® NetStructuretm 7280 XML Director
The Intel® NetStructuretm 7280 XML Director is the first of its kind to combine the acceleration of security functions and XML, control of XML, and "XML transaction roll-back" in a single device. The 7280 XML Director allows companies to carry out B2B XML transactions up to 150 times faster than previously possible.

Using a patent-pending rules-based engine, the 7280 XML Director can identify and classify incoming XML requests based on specific elements within the XML transactions.

Once classified, the 7280 XML Director can transparently validate, prioritize and direct the most important XML request based on criteria such as trading partner, transaction value, unit volume and time sensitivity.

It can also be used to identify different XML "dialects" and direct them to specific back-end servers for processing. By identifying XML variants from different vendors, the 7280 XML Director can recognize different XML implementations and ensure that the appropriate server acts on the transaction.

The 7280 XML Director will also reject invalid XML syntax, detect failing or overloaded servers and resubmit the requests to another server for processing.

Intel® NetStructuretm 7210 XML Accelerator
The Intel® NetStructuretm 7210 XML Accelerator is a network device that can intelligently read and quickly classify key XML information.

It works in conjunction with Intel or third party switches, load balancers or traffic managers to direct XML transactions to the server best able to process the transaction.

The 7210 XML Accelerator allows companies to carry out secure B2B XML transactions up to 50 times faster than previouly possible.

Both the 7280 and 7210 incorporate Intel's "Transparent Drop-In" technology so they can be quickly and easily installed with no changes to the software loaded on the server.
