Apple has posted a tiny tidbit of shipping news to the iPad product page. Those who have pre-ordered their shiny tablet computers before this weekend should still be getting the iPad in the mail by April 12.
But new pre-orders will start shipping later now. Oh, no!
From now on, Wi-Fi models are promised to be shipped by April 12, whereas the Wi-Fi + 3G editions won't be shipped until "late April" - and it doesn't get any more specific than that.
The delay is a result of the fact that demand exceeded product production, and now Apple doesn't have enough iPads that are ready for April 3. Given that new pre-order shipments are being delayed now, it will be curious to see how many iPads Apple will have in-store on the launch date.
A few extra weeks to wait isn't that terrible, but maybe a bit disappointing...unless you were really planning iPad showing up in early April. What are you going to do with all that extra time on your hands now?
