iPhone 5c, 5s to hit 50 new markets in the coming weeks
Apple has revealed the next wave of countries that will get the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s.
When it launched last month, the iPhone 5c and 5s were made available in 11 countries. Apple on Wednesday announced that figure will reach 35 over the coming weeks, with the devices slated for launch in new markets in Europe, Latin America and beyond.
From 25 October, 34 countries — mainly in Europe — will get the two handsets: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, French West Indies, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macau, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Reunion Island, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan and Thailand.
The iPhone 5c and 5s will be released in a further set of 16 countries on 1 November: Albania, Armenia, Bahrain, Colombia, El Salvador, Guam, Guatemala, India, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Montenegro, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the UAE.
The wider availability means that the iPhone will be released in over 60 markets by the end of the year.
The iPhone 5c and 5s sold nine million between them on the first weekend after launch, Apple said, when the pair were released in 11 markets. The figure's up on last year, when Apple shifted five million of its iPhone 5 model in the first three days after it went on sale.
