E-commerce arms of both companies will deploy mobile commerce and supply chain management technology.

SINGAPORE - Keppel Telecommunications & Transportation Ltd and Fraser and Neave Limited have thrown their hat into the e-commerce arena and are working together to acquire technologies and develop in-house capabilities in mobile commerce and supply chain management.

According to a statement, the two companies will be exploring e-commerce potential through their respective wholly-owned e-commerce arms--Apsilon Ventures Pte Ltd and Fannet Online Pte Ltd.

Deployment will focus on how these technologies and capabilities can be used in-house, which would then progress to how both companies can jointly launch new businesses in the high-growth m-commerce and supply chain management markets.

F&N will lend its extensive distribution network and strategic connections with buying organizations and suppliers in the marketplace to the e-commerce initiative. Along those lines, F&N's e-commerce arm, Fannet Online, will be building developing its e-commerce infrastructure.

As technology partner, Keppel T&T will offer a range of Internet and communications technologies that both parties could use to launch new businesses in the high-growth m-commerce and supply chain management markets.

Mr Ng Eng Ho, MD of Keppel T&T said: "Keppel T&T aims to enable and facilitate businesses online by allowing their customers and business associates to gather information, buy and sell through the channels of their choice - whether this is via the mobile phone, office PC or laptop."
