KL MUTUAL launches Malaysia's first mobile electronic agents system

KUALA LUMPUR, 3 July 2000 - Kuala Lumpur Mutual Fund Berhad ("KL MUTUAL"), a member of Public Bank Group, launched the first mobile electronic agent system on May 20, 2000. Named KL MUTUAL's eAsy, the system incorporates a mobile client information system and KL MUTUAL's financial calculators in a Psion series 5MX palmtop.

KUALA LUMPUR, 3 July 2000 - Kuala Lumpur Mutual Fund Berhad ("KL MUTUAL"), a member of Public Bank Group, launched the first mobile electronic agent system on May 20, 2000. Named KL MUTUAL's eAsy, the system incorporates a mobile client information system and KL MUTUAL's financial calculators in a Psion series 5MX palmtop.

"With KL MUTUAL's eAsy, our agents will have their clients' information at their fingertips to provide immediate account information, assess client's financial needs and thus provide value added service on the spot," said Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Edmond Cheah.

"Agents merely need to key-in the data required in order to assist clients in assessing their needs in home, education or retirement funding. This will enable them to provide instant financial planning services to their prospects and clients," he said.

"On top of these, KL MUTUAL's eAsy allows them to use their mobile phone to access the internet, read their email, store, print or fax documents anytime with ease. The personal data stored in the system will enable them to provide better follow-up services to the clients. These attractive features will in turn, benefit our fundholders who will then enjoy more prompt and professional services from their agent," he explained.

KL MUTUAL's eAsy is joinly developed by KL MUTUAL and Alchemy Technology Sendirian Berhad, Psion's sole distributor in Malaysia.

The product was launched by Chead during the company's 11th National Sales Convention. With "Conquering New Frontiers in Financial Planning" as the convention's theme, KL MUTUAL had invited some of the best names in the industry as speakers.

KL MUTUAL is the one of the larger private unit trust manager in Malaysia, managing 10 funds with over RM4 billion for more than 360,000 investors. It is also a member of the Public Bank Group.
