Kohl's to expand solar deployments at its stores

Kohl's Department Stores said Thursday that it is expanding its solar power program at its retail locations and distribution centers.

The company just equipped its 100th location with solar panels. In a nutshell, Kohl's places solar panels on the roof to save on electricity costs. Thus far, Kohl's estimates that it has saved $50 million in electricity costs since from the solar program. The company said it aims to be carbon neutral by the end of the year.

According to the retailer, it will now deploy solar panels at its Pennsylvania stores. So far, Kohl's has solar panels deployed in California, Wisconsin, Connecticut, New Jersey, Maryland, Oregon and Colorado.
