For the business-minded who always need to stay connected on a Blackberry, you can do some professional social-networking now thanks to the new LinkedIn app for the RIM smartphone.

LinkedIn members can access most of the same content that they can on the full website, but the app has a focus on six specific modules: network updates, search, connections, invitations, messages and reconnect (contact suggestions).

One of the major highlights of the app is that users can update their Blackberry address books with contact information directly downloaded and merged from their LinkedIn contact lists. Other perks include being able to integrate LinkedIn messages into the device's email app and viewing the profile of anyone attending the same event marked on your personal Blackberry calendar.

The free app is compatible with Tour, Curve, and Bold devices running Blackberry OS v4.3 or later. Blackberry owners interested in downloading the LinkedIn app can do so on their website.
