Madonna, Green Day Skype ringtones? Oh, please

Within the next few months, you will be able to buy Skype ringtones from artists such as Madonna and Green Day.

These ringtones will cost $1.50 a pop.

First of all, I think this deal is plain dumb. A short, non-obtrustive ringtone on my cell would work. Helps differentiate my phone from others when I am in a crowd.

But Madonna as a Skype ringtone? Listen, I like a few Madonna songs, even one or two Green Day songs, but not blasted in my ear.

What's my problem with these tones? I am at my PC, with headset on, and someone's calling me on Skype. But instead of just an incoming call notification, I get a selection from Madonna's "Confessions On The Dance Floor" CD.

A selection such as "Hung Up."

I think I'll hang up.
