Kuala Lumpur, Feb 28 (Asia Pulse) - JARING's new internet portal, www.jaring.my, has received an overwhelming 15 million hits within 10 days of its launch on Feb 15.

Its managing director, Syed Md Najib Syed Md Noor said the overwhelming response to the site far exceeded JARING's initial projection of 7.5 million hits a month. He anticipated the number of visits would surpass 20 million before the end of this month.

Syed Najib said in a statement that the feedbacks that he received about the portal were positive, particularly as the search engine offered effective Internet searching with its choice of Malaysia, Asia and World Search feature.

Visitors were also impressed with the local directory's vast range of information on the country and its content quality and welcomed the free e-mail that offered a generous 8 Mb space as well as 12 Mb homepage. The portal's local directory contained more than 3,600 compelling Malaysian Web sites in English and Bahasa Malaysia and organised under 16 categories ranging from arts and entertainment to business and finance. JARING would constantly be expanding its services and content to meet the changing and growing need of users, the statement said.
