Memories of Katrina flood back

Here is an excellent Flash cartographic animation of the flooding of New Orleans from hurricane Katrina. (Note: the file takes a while to download, and I had to enter my postal code and gender to get the file).

You know what's going to happen, but it's even more heartwrenching to watch in slow-mo.

There is a background sound effect of high wind that is cool the first time you hear it, not as cool the umpteenth time.

High-fives to graphic artist Dan Swenson and researcher Bob Marshall of the New Orleans (USA) Times Picayune newspaper.

Listen to a 12-minute audio podcast, a sweet story about repairing pianos and lives in New Orleans after the flood, and here's a picture of the men in the story.
