New Delhi, Jan 12 (Asia Pulse) - Global software giant Microsoft will launch its Indian portal by March to provide a variety of information including news.

"We think it is time Microsoft launches a portal that caters to Indian audience and we expect to be operational by March this year," said Sanjay Mirchandani, managing director, Microsoft Corporation India. The portal which would house local content would replicate its US counterpart providing information on a variety of subjects including news, entertainment and travel, he said.

Asked if the company had signed up Microland for content for this interactive site, Mirchandani declined to comment saying "we are looking at outsourcing services from various players in the market." "We are also talking to a number of companies for providing the Indian and international news content for the portal," he added.

The company which has set up similar localised portals for about 30 countries worldwide, plans to "personalise" the Indian site to suit the needs of users.
