Missed out on a WWDC ticket? Apple's got another option

Would-be attendees of Apple's WWDC are being offered Tech Talks closer to home and some online video as an alternative to the annual developer shindig.

After Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) event sold out in two minutes, Cupertino is going some way to make it up to all those would-be attendees who missed out on a ticket.

For those who need an alternative to WWDC, which will kick off on 10 June in San Francisco, Apple will be launching smaller-scale 'Tech Talks' at a number of cities. And, for those out of the reach of the Tech Talks, there's still the option of viewing WWDC from home.

In a message posted on Apple's site on Friday, the company said: "Enthusiasm for WWDC 2013 has been incredible, with tickets selling out in record time. For those who can't join us in San Francisco, you can still take advantage of great WWDC content, as we'll be posting videos of all our sessions during the conference. We'll also be hitting the road this fall with Tech Talks in a city near you. Hope to see you there."

There was no further word from Apple on which cities might get to play host to a Tech Talk, but we've asked the company for hints, and we'll update the story if we hear back.

For those who managed to secure a $1,599 ticket, Apple is promising a first look at the next build of both OS X and iOS.

Like last year, 2013's WWDC will feature more than 100 sessions over five days at the Moscone West conference centre.
