For the person who is always on the go, but also cares to grow his or her financial wealth, your portfolio can now go with you.

For the TDAmeritrade customers in the audience, there is an application- not put out by the company itself, but a partner company- that provides that necessary mobility.

Privacy and Protection There has to be a bit of anxiety about having a little icon announce to anyone who happens to sneak a peek at your phone that you are an active trader and with a quick click they can see what it is you are investing in.  However, although the iStockManager application will allow for instant access without having to sign in each time, it does require a password before trading can be completed.  So your worries can end there.

Charts and Graphs The charts of stock price changes are easy to view and provide the user the ability to change the time span from a single day up to five years.  There is also stock related news available.

Trading Capabilities on the Go Trading is a breeze thanks to a "scroll" style selection tool, and buttons that allow the user to change share quantities by ten, one hundred or five hundred.

Etrade has also joined the thousands of names listed in the App stores of iPhone and BlackBerry.

Privacy and Protection In this category, the app is not much better or worse than Ameritrade's version, though you will be asked to sign in each time you open it.

Charts and Graphs For news, charts, analyst reports and so on, this app is extremely user friendly a nice addition to an "office on the go."

Trading Capabilities on the Go Stock trading is as easy as on the company's website, but there have been complaints about advanced trading and options trading via the application.  So, depending on the level at which you are investing, you may or may not find yourself pleased with the company's definition of mobility.

Added Benefit Albeit, not so great for those of us that already have Etrade accounts, new customers to the company can benefit from up to one hundred commission free trades- though they must be completed within the first sixty days of the accounts activation- perhaps not a big deal for the true day trader.

Finally, for those that prefer the seven dollar online trades, Scottrade has gone mobile. Not as an application, but this company does offer a mobile friendly website. Bookmark it and it’s almost as convenient.

Privacy and Protection The one benefit of not having a little icon front and center is that security is less of an issue.  However, you will need to sign in each and every time, so added to the extra time of opening the browser and then the site you will have to go through the process of signing in.

Charts and Graphs Though some argue that the graphics are not great on anything but the highest resolution smartphones, the site is supposed to accomodate all smartphones and bring the user the news, charts, analyst reports, quotes, and portfolio information on the go.

Trading Capabilities As far as trading capabilities are concerned, the mobile site certainly does not fall short.  Users can trade with market, limit, stop, or stop limit orders easily, quickly, and without needing to stop their travels.
