Pulled the trigger too quick on the D-Link green networking news. Not because I goofed with a detail, but because THEY HAVE MORE NEW PRODUCTS! So, in case you haven't visited their site to check up on the small-business editions of their Green Ethernet series, here's some information on two new rack-mountable switches, the DGS-1016D (16-port) and the DGS-1024 (24-port).

The switches conserve energy by recognizes when a port is active or inactive and adjusting the power accordingly. The products also include a feature that allows the switches to sense how long the Ethernet cable is and adjust the amount of power. (The shorter the length, the less power needs to be sent down the line.)
