MS will counter Netscape news delivery service
Microsoft said today it will counter Netscape's moves to deliver free news direct to European mailboxes in 16 countries in its next Web browser release.

"Internet Explorer 4.0 will go much further," said Jeremy Gittins, Microsoft's Internet platforms product manager. He wouldn't say whether Microsoft had plans to enlist news content providers but insisted: "You'll get ticker tapes, news, weather and video straight to your desktop. That's when news delivery will really take off."
