New Apple support docs target Leopard client & server, Boot Camp
Apple on Thursday released a batch of support documents for Leopard, including some new problems with Boot Camp. It appears that some UI changes in the new version of Mac OS X may need some extra explaining to customers.
Boot Camp Mac OS X 10.5, Boot Camp: Windows Vista "Problem Reports and Solutions" indicates compatibility issues before Boot Camp installation. After installing Leopard, make sure to install the new Boot Camp drivers for Windows. It seems that Windows Vista reports a bunch of problems until the update is loaded.
Boot Camp 2.0: Video issues with Windows Vista or XP. Apple says that some Macs using NVidia graphics have a video problem (a black screen). The company seems to be unsure of the solution but suggests installing the latest Windows drivers for the chipset.
You can find out what video chipset is in your Mac by looking in the System Profiler application (select About This Mac in the Apple Menu and then click the More Info button. Then look in the Graphics/Display tab.)
Leopard Mac OS X 10.5: How to connect to an AirPort disk. To connect to an AirPort disk in Leopard, look in the Shared section in any Finder window sidebar. So that's where it is! Apple says to "simply look." Thanks a lot.
Mac OS X 10.5: About the PubSub Agent. If you're syncing Bookmarks on Leopard using .Mac, you may see a alert about PubSub Agent wanting access to your Keychain. "This alert is expected. It is safe to click 'Always Allow' for the PubSub Agent."
iSync, Mac OS X 10.5: Calendar events may not sync to a phone from .Mac via the menu bar item. The answer is to always use the iSync application when syncing with .Mac.
Leopard Server Mac OS X Server version 10.5: Standard configuration accepts mail from local subnet only. As I mentioned in a recent post on Leopard Server, Apple is targeting SOHO and SMB customers. As a result, some sits may find the Standard configuration's default a bit restrictive. This support doc tells how to expand the mail settings with the Server Admin tool.
