News Burst: IBM completes online music trial
The Big Five record companies and IBM have completed the first ever market trial of an end to end digital music distribution system.
The AlbumDirect trial involved the delivery of CD quality albums, singles and artwork to around 1000 households over the Road Runner cable modem service in California.
BMG Entertainment, EMI Music, Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group conducted the trial using IBM's Electronic Music Management System (EMMS) for digital rights management and electronic delivery.
