News Burst: Music industry lambasts Philips
An increasingly irritable music industry has spoken out against Philips for introducing CD-copying equipment without consulting it first about copyright abuse.

The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) has criticised Philips for the introduction of its latest CD-R equipment, including a twin-deck ‘audio separate' capable of 2x copy speeds. Last week the IFPI added its support to a lawsuit against Diamond Multimedia from the Recording Industry Association of America accusing Diamond of violating copyright regulations with its forthcoming Rio MP3 walkman.
