The ROI experts at Nucleus Research have put together their predictions for this year. They expect more of the same as in 2004 in some areas, such as pricing models, integration, and consolidation. Business Intelligence, e-commerce, and Open Source are to be the software industry winners in 2005. But look out for an explosion in spam (just how many times can it explode?), more spending on compliance, and some remorse coming from those who blindly jumped into RFID. Below is the list:

  • BI heats up the ERP market
  • Maintenance fees become the next battlefield
  • Hosted CRM is reconsidered
  • E-commerce is the new hosted CRM
  • Open source marches on consolidating for savings
  • Spam explodes
  • Wireless piggybacking and piggyhacking take off
  • Compliance regulations drive content and records
  • Management RFID hangovers
