Dell has started sending out Android 2.2 for the Dell Streak according to an announcement from the company on Wednesday.

The update — which will bring Froyo features such as Wi-Fi hotspot capability, Flash 10.1 support and support for installing apps to the SD card — will be delivered to handsets over-the-air (OTA) according to the O2 blog.

It will also bring with it the new Dell Stage UI, preloaded Swype keyboard and native Microsoft Exchange support.

O2 says that it is gradually making the update available to customers. Users can check to see if the update is available for their handset by going to Settings > About Phone > System Updates.

Dell announced on its blog and Facebook fan page on 15 November that it would gradually begin rolling out Android 2.2 for non-network tied handsets.

In an unexpected move for a handset that launched in May 2009, Vodafone has announced that it will be sending out Android 2.2 for the HTC Magic in a two-part OTA upgrade that can be downloaded on either a 3G or Wi-Fi connection. Vodafone recommends Wi-Fi due to the size of the update.
