I'm heading out to San Diego in the morning to attend the DEMOfall 2006 event. This will be my second DEMO event and the lineup of companies looks very intriguing this time around. Richard MacManus has the complete list posted on his Read/Write Web blog. The panel discussions Executive Producer Chris Shipley has put together look very interesting and then, of course, there are the demos themselves - the heart and soul of the event - which can secure a young company's future or cause it to go back to the drawing table.

I was tickled to see the picture used under the heading "Who attends DEMO?" on this page (and now here in this post). That's me at the DEMO@15 event two years ago in Scottsdale sitting with Patrick McGovern, Chairman of the Board of IDG - the company that puts on this and other leading industry events. I had the good luck to sit next to him for one of the sessions and, as I recall, I gave him a Tablet PC demo (couldn't help myself) and had a very engaging conversation with him about the state of the tech industry.

DEMO events are also a great chance to see some blog buddies. A few I know will be there are: Buzz Bruggeman, Oliver Starr, Dan Farber and Renee Blodgett. I'll post some impressions from the event - WiFi gods willing.
