Mobile phone operator One2One will create 1,000 jobs when it opens its latest customer contact centre in Dundee, Scotland.

The centre, One2One's sixth UK customer service centre, will be developed by Akeler - the company responsible for building One2One's Greenock, Doxford, Dearne Valley and Merthyr Tydfil sites. Construction is expected to begin within the next few weeks and will be completed by summer 2001. One2One has invested over £300m in the last two years in services to support its seven million customers and created 2,500 jobs across the UK. Henry McLeish, Scottish executive minister for enterprise and lifelong learning, welcomed the announcement claiming it is the flexibility, commitment and dedication of the Scottish workforce that attracts projects of this type. There are currently 200 call centres in Scotland, employing around 40,000 people.
