Mass redundancies at Malone-owned firm...

OpenTV has halved its workforce, cutting315 jobs worldwide, in response to the continuing downturn across the technology sector. OpenTV, which was bought by John Malone's Liberty Media earlier this year, provides the backbone of Sky Digital's pay-TV offering. The company also runs interactive gaming services Playjam and Yo-Yo. The cuts are expected to save OpenTV around £38m per year. They follow 57 redundancies made earlier this year.
