Oracle on Thursday launched the latest version of its Enterprise Manager application, which is used to oversee IT assets.

In this latest version, Oracle added the following features:

Application management with business metrics. The general idea is that metrics, business transactions and user experience can be combined. Key components include:

  • User experience management that measures usage statistics and diagnostics for various Oracle parts such as Siebel CRM and E-Business Suite.
  • Transaction management to find transactions and extract business content.
  • Business service management to find services such as billing and shipping and analyze metrics.

Application to disk management is designed to cut the need for multiple tools at each software layer---database, middleware, operating system, hardware etc. Most of these highlights revolve around Oracle's middleware, servers and other parts.

Integrated systems management and support and hooks into Oracle's community. Key components include configuration management, automated workflow and a console for knowledge exchange.
