Oracle to fire 800

Dark start to the New Year...

Oracle is to fire up to 800 employees in a further bid to streamline its operations, it announced last Friday. The latest job losses amount to 2 per cent of its 42,000 strong global workforce. Most of the cuts will come from within the US consulting and sales divisions. Shares at the company closed on Friday at $14.06, up seven cents following the announcement.
