The Palm Pre has been the center of the smartphone buzz for some time now, but with June nearly here, and the Palm Pre's launch getting even closer, any little bit of Palm Pre gossip is music to our ears. Today's news is the Palm Pre's ringtone.

According to PreCentral.net, Palm had Roger Bourland compose the ringtone, and Bourland has composed more than just a few ringtones for the new phone:

"Bourland praised Matias Duarte (Palm's senior director of human interface and user experience) for having the vision to commission 'micro-compositions; not just phone emulations, or paid-for chunks of pre-existing songs.' Each ringtone is roughly 24 seconds long before it kicks into the message service. ... Bourland is in negotiations with Palm to make available the remaining 170 ringtones that were made at the same time, through the Palm application site."

Listen to it here. You can even download it and use it on your iPhone. Personally, I think PalmPreCentral.net missed an amazing opportunity to Rick Roll thousands of eager Pre fans.
