Five local government sites in Australia and New Zealand have teamed up with PeopleSoft to manage the lifecycle of their assets.

PeopleSoft and its local partner Jigsaw Services will be using EnterpriseOne software for several councils in the region, including the City of Unley (South Australia), City of Swan (Western Australia), Gladstone City (Queensland), Livingstone Shire (Queensland) and Thames Coromandel District (New Zealand).

Gerry Poepjes, executive manager for the City of Swan, said "We anticipate that we will be able to create greater visibility and more accurate forecasting of our substantial asset base. Improved management and reporting of our assets will reap significant savings for Council and improved prioritization of the use and maintenance of our assets."

Andrew McAdams, chief executive of Jigsaw Services said that the software's modular framework allows Jigsaw Services and PeopleSoft to deliver a fully integrated solution that allows for single data entry.

The PeopleSoft EnterpriseOne local government solution includes Financial Management (general ledger, budgeting and accounts payable/receivable), Supplier Relationship Management (procurement), and Project Management (project costing) modules, among others.

Some councils also opted for the Human Capital Management module that includes payroll, human resources and employee and manager self-service.

"Because all of these modules are integrated in real-time, the PeopleSoft EnterpriseOne software allows the councils' engineers who repair, replace or remove assets to see the same set of common data as the financial team who balance the budgets and determine the current asset valuation," said McAdams.

PeopleSoft EnterpriseOne software allows all actions relating to an asset to be seen by all the decision makers in real-time thus preventing double booking for a footpath repair job, for example, and ensuring that the repair of the playground equipment is the best use of the council's budget.
