While it's not expected to be announced until April 20, a promo photo and some details of the anticipated Leica V-Lux 20 have made their way to the Internet.

Thanks to Leica Rumors, we all get a sneak peak of this compact, 14.5-megapixel Leica digital camera. Some of the known details right now include:

  • 3-inch rear LCD screen
  • 25-300mm zoom range
  • HD video recording capability (Motion JPEGs)
  • Integrated GPS
  • ISO range up to 1600
  • SD/SDHC/SDXC card slot
  • Outputs: USB 2.0, mini-HDMI Type C, AV

What's really special and surprising about this new Leica model is the price tag. Known for exorbitant selling rates (some of which are justified), Leica has the V-Lux 20 priced at $599, which for them isn't too bad. Plus, you'll get Photoshop Elements 8 included in the deal.

But given that the V-Lux is in the same class as the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7, which costs about $250 less on Amazon right now. Thus, you'd only be buying this camera for the Leica brand name, but for some people that is enough.

And then there are the accessories, which are necessary with such a lifestyle gadget, including the leather case for $89. The new Leica model should be in stores by May 9.
