"I speak to politicians all the time," AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson said last week.

Like it or not, technology, government and politics are inexorably linked. And here in the U.S., the 2008 Presidential race is heating up.

The President directs technology policy- sometimes by the legislation he proposes, backs or blocks, and by the political persuasion of the FCC Commissioners he appoints. Everything from the future expansion of our broadband networks to net neutrality to phone regulations is dependent on the ideas the President backs, funding he authorizes, bureaucrats he appoints.

Readers, you are a pretty sophisticated technological crowd. You live and breathe this stuff.

That fact, plus the points I have made above, have convinced me it's time for a Presidental poll.
