Psion makes acquisition to focus on mobile data

Psion PLC acquires Teklogix in order to help focus on the upcoming mobile data market. The new division will be the largest in the company.

Newly merged division Psion Teklogix to focus on emerging mobile data industry

SINGAPORE - Psion PLC and Teklogix International Inc. have announced the successful completion of the acquisition of Teklogix by Psion. Teklogix will merge with Psion PLC's industrial handheld division, Psion Enterprise Computing, to create a new Psion product division, Psion Teklogix.

The new division will be based in Mississauga, Ontario and will be led by former Teklogix President and CEO, Ian McElroyand will be the largest division of Psion PLC.

Psion has a history of producing digital products such as the Psion Revo handheld device, while Teklogix is a provider of wireless data communications systems, and helps to develop real-time logistics solutions for the industrial space.

Psion Teklogix will leverage off both parent companies to focus on the emerging era of mobile data and mobile Internet, where data can be accessed at anytime, and anywhere.

The integration of Teklogix with Psion targets to bring together complementary technologies such as wireless systems integration, Bluetooth technology and Symbian.

The company said that individual product brands of both companies will continue.
