Business intelligence (BI) software company Qlik has started its own Brazil operation with the launch of a São Paulo office last week.

The company founded in Sweden focuses on software for data visualization, guided analytics, embedded analytics and reporting to over 40,000 customers worldwide, of which 5,000 are based in Latin America.

Qlik had been present in the Brazilian market for several years, selling its products via reselling partners. One of its best-known local customers is cosmetics giant Grupo Boticário, who has recently adopted self-service BI tool QlikSense.

Brazil was chosen as the company's operations home for Latin America because it is Qlik's main market in the region, followed by Mexico. The vendor has also seen 30 percent in sales growth in Brazil over the last two years.

According to the company, Latin America represents about 40 percent of all its new business revenue.
