A decision on Yahoo's new CEO could come as early as next week and the company is reportedly leaning toward someone from the outside, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. Carol Bartz, the former chief executive officer of engineering software company Autodesk, is reportedly "on the list," a source told the Journal. From the inside, Yahoo President Sue Decker also remains a strong candidate, the WSJ reported.

On November 17, Yahoo announced that CEO Jerry Yang would step down as soon as the board of directors found a replacement. Yang will remain Chief Yahoo and keep a seat on the company's board of directors.
