The fix is in for the Samsung Captivate. A new update is going out over the air with some improvements for the AT&T device, namely an improved GPS system.

Unfortunately, there aren't any details in Samsung's statement about how the GPS has been improved. Some of the other upgrades are faster media scanning times, a full version of Quickoffice and it addresses Microsoft Exchange 2003 policy support.

Still no Android 2.2 in sight, and no word on whether or not these upgrades will be made available to the other Samsung Galaxy S smartphones soon. But for now, Samsung Captivate owners will be notified when the update is ready to download over the next few weeks.
