Are you the owner of a 1st-gen iPod nano? Yes. Is it scratched? Yes. You could be entitled to a slice (a very small slice!) of a multi-million dollar class-action suit settlement.
This lawsuit dates back to October 2005, when lead plaintiff Jason Tomczak started to complain that his 1st-gen iPod nano scratched too easily due to the lack of a coating. Despite claims that this suit was frivolous, it's snowballed and now Apple has put aside $22.5 million cash settlement fund.
Here's how that $22.5 million will be shared out:
- If your iPod nano didn't come with a slip case, you may be entitled to a cash payment of $25
- If your iPod nano came with a slip case, you may be entitled to a cash payment of $15
- Lawyers walk away with fees of $4.5 million and expenses of $200,000
