Several iPhone presale offers up on eBay

Although the Apple iPhone officially goes on sale June 29, a number of eBay sellers are posting preorder offers for the much anticipated device.

Since it is widely assumed that the opening rush will deplete iPhone, inventories for as many as a few weeks after the floodgates open, it is rather difficult to accurately answer how these sellers expect to guarantee they will have iPhones ready to sell on June 29. Perhaps they have sources within AT&T or Apple. I do think that what we are seeing here is that these sellers have a lot of confidence they will be able to crash the gate as soon as the iPhone goes on sale.

The whole trip has the patina of ticket-scalping.

Bids are coming in and some bids are at or just below $1,000. That's nearly double the unit's $499-$599 costs.

All in all though the price of the winning auctions will be dependement on supplies.
