Good story on the BusinessGreen.com Web site this week about a push by the Climate Group in collaboration with Google and many of the big players in the smart meter business (ala GE, AT&T, Verizon, Intel and Hewlett-Packard) to lobby the federal government for what the article describes as universal smart meters. The argument by this group is that every home and business should have access to this sort of technology. Although the Obama administration is advocating smart grid projects with more than $3.4 billion in funding, it hasn't actually set any kind of federal mandate that declares that all Americans should have smart meters. Here's a copy of the letter sent to President Obama.
