Six new AMD processors for business due Q3

AMD is reported to have announced six new 45nm processors to be launched in the third quarter of this year and aimed at business users. The announcement follows AMD's launch of its first 45nm Shanghai processor in November this year.

AMD is reported to have announced six new 45nm processors to be launched in the third quarter of this year and aimed at business users. The announcement follows AMD's launch of its first 45nm Shanghai processor in November this year.

The planned processors form a triple-play of dual, triple and quad-core processors.

The dual-core Athlon X2 B23 runs at 2.9GHz and a has 2MB onboard memory. The Athlon B21 is 2.7GHz with 2MB as well.

The triple-core Phenom II X3 B73 is 2.8GHz with 7.5MB and the B71 is 2.6GHz with 7.5MB.

The quad-core Phenom II X4 B93 is 2.8GHz with 8MB and the B91 has 2.6GHz and 8MB as well.

The main source for this story has been DigiTimes which also reported that AMD has refused to comment on any possibly upcoming announcements.

Shanghai is available in 2, 4 and 8 processor versions for use on systems from desktops to servers of all sizes.
