At this year's Google I/O, Android is going to have a huge presence. Google is expected to release Froyo (Android 2.2) at the conference, but that's not all. Google, along with Intel and Sony, are going to be showcasing a new television platform called Smart TV, which also runs on Android.

This is something that has been talked about for a really long time, but it's finally about to become reality. Developers will be able to begin writing applications for the Smart TV platform as soon as Wednesday.

This is huge news -- especially considering it's not just Google announcing this project. The backing of Sony is sure to lead to solid growth for the new platform, considering Sony will likely bundle it into their blu-ray players (and who knows, maybe this will report back to Google which movies you are watching too...)

I'm definitely looking forward to Google I/O this year -- is there anything you hope Google announces at the conference?
