Storage wars: Revenue surges as EMC top dog, NetApp posts blistering growth

Storage system sales surged 19 percent in the third quarter to total about $5.2 billion, according to IDC. That tally is the fourth highest recorded since IDC has been tracking sales.

Storage system sales surged 19 percent in the third quarter to total about $5.2 billion, according to IDC. That tally is the fourth highest recorded since IDC has been tracking sales. The standings look similar to last quarter. EMC has the lead in external storage systems followed by IBM. NetApp and HP are in a statistical tie for third place. NetApp, however, is growing at the fastest clip of the bunch.
