Stupid Criminals
Two funny ones today.
First, a child pornographer in Germany received the Zotob email worm that stated "You are under investigation" in the subject heading. He thought it was real and turned himself in! See the article here. I guess a guilty conscience will do that to you.
Then there is the breaking case here in Boulder, Colorado. According to the Daily Camera police arrested a serial bike thief. Let me first explain that in Boulder people ride bikes that are more valuable than some cars. They take biking cery seriously in Boulder. This thief had been stealing bikes and selling them to a fence who then sold them on eBay. The article and the police appear to absolve the fence but c'mon how could you not figure out that the guy you were meeting in public places and handing over cash to was not stealing the bikes?
Anyway, one clever victim set up an alert on eBay for his stolen bike, a 2001 Bianchi Axis (pictured above, retails at $2,500). When it was posted to eBay he alerted the police who questioned the eBay reseller (rocknrollprof) who ratted on the thief.
Its a good thing bad guys can be stupid too. It is not just their victims.
