Definition lists are pretty handy tools in the HTML toolbox. They enable you to pair a definition term <dt> with a definition(s) <dd>. I know some people think they should only be used for definitions; however I believe they are useful for displaying any “paired” information.
For example, I've been working on a web site promoting courses, and I've used a definition list to pair up price:value and duration:days.
The trouble is, there are problems displaying terms and definitions on the same line if you're using Internet Explorer 7. I searched in my usual CSS searching places (the CSS-Discuss Wiki and the css-discuss discussion list). Not much grooving. And then I happenchanced across an article entitled Definition lists - misused or misunderstood? over at Max Design. Result:joy.
