Target offering weekend deals on Philips, Vizio LED HDTVs

A lot of times those HDTVs deals you see in circulars tucked into the Sunday newspaper aren't deals at all -- the prices are usually matched or bettered by online retailers. This weekend, at least, Target has a couple of sales on LED-backlit LCD TVs that are truly sales. (Note that as of this writing, these prices aren't available on Target.com.)

At the lower end, the Philips 40PFL7505D is on sale for $599, down from the store's regular $849.99 price. Better still, the 40-inch 120Hz 1080p set is nearly $80 more through the Amazon Marketplace, and Overstock.com sells it for $769.99. Only Sam's Club has it cheaper, but you need to be a member of that warehouse chain to receive the $598 price.

If you're looking for a bigger TV for the upcoming football playoff schedule, Target has priced the Vizio M550NV (pictured above) at $1,299, or $150 off the regular store pricing. The 55-inch 120HZ 1080p HDTV, which includes Vizio Internet Apps and built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi, is $1,399.99 at Buy.com, $1,428 at Amazon, and more at other online shops.

With two weeks until the Super Bowl and new 2011 sets getting ready to ship, there may be more real deals on the way. Stay tuned.
