Australia's largest telecom provider Telstra said it will migrate its 45,000 employees to Windows 7 from XP. Telstra had skipped the Vista upgrade.

ZDNet Australia quotes Telstra's chief technology architect Clive Webber:

"We have the intention to migrate to Windows 7 and propose to do formal testing once Windows 7 has been released."

Webber said Telstra hasn't formally tested Windows 7, but there are enough informal users with the beta to spur corporate interest in an upgrade.

The decision is similar to one many companies have made. Telstra will go from Windows XP right to Windows 7. Meanwhile it appears early reviews of Windows 7 are strong enough to generate some upgrade. Microsoft's job: Don't screw it up.
