"The Morning Briefing" is SmartPlanet's daily roundup of must-reads from the web. This morning we're reading about electric vehicles (EVs).

.) Tesla to start deliveries of Model S electric cars next month. Tesla Motors Inc. said it will begin delivering its first mass production electric car -– the high-end Model S to customers starting June 22, about a month ahead of the expected schedule.

.) BMW aims to lead electric car market. Drivers who watched last year’s Hollywood blockbuster “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol” probably dreamt of owning a BMW i8, with its sleek, futuristic appearance. Alternatively, an increasing number of people concerned about their budget want electric cars as gas prices continue to rise.

.) LA's electric-car drivers go further, charge smarter. Los Angeles is well known for being at the forefront of electric car adoption, spurred on in part by large numbers of Hollywood A-list electric car drivers, enthusiastic advocacy groups and chronic air quality.

.) Hybrid and electric vehicles to rev European electric motors market, says Frost & Sullivan. Electrification in vehicles is a key trend in the automotive industry -- the increase in electric components within vehicles now boosting the market for traction motors.

.) New hybrid electric sports car turning heads. With solar panels on the roof and an electronic hum as the flashy car accelerates, the Fisker Karma is the newest electric vehicle turning heads on metro Tulsa streets and highways.
