Time to curl up and read HP's latest green manifesto (aka global citizenship report)
In case you're not following my blog over at Smart Planet yet, I posted an item this morning about Hewlett-Packard's latest corporate sustainability/social responsibility/environmental report.

In case you're not following my blog over at Smart Planet yet, I posted an item this morning about Hewlett-Packard's latest corporate sustainability/social responsibility/environmental report. There are more than 200 different "goals" discussed in the report, but two of the most notable things I take away are the following:
- HP continues to make progress toward its pledge to cut power consumption for its products by at least 40 percent; you can find out where it stands so far with a couple of dozen different products
- The company is an extensive user of an open source tool call Green Screen from Clean Production Action, which is helping it assess replacement materials for the hazardous and environmentally insensitive materials that it is taking out of its products
While at any given moment in time or point in a product release cycle you could argue that one company or another is greener than another, HP really does stand out for its consistency AND for the pressure that it is putting on its entire supply chain to get greener
