Mail and services group TNT has launched a secure and instantaneous electronic alternative to express document delivery in Australia.

Melbourne, July 14 (Asia Pulse) - The company said the rollout of the product, SecurEdoc, would enable TNT Express to capture a major share of the global email market for secure e-mail services. The product is being launched worldwide.

Forecasts are that the global e-mail market will be 7.9billion messages a day by 2002, with reports that the potential market value of electronic document distribution of $10 billion by the end of 2001.

TNT is targeting industries in the legal, financial, IT and media sectors where there are demands for regular distribution of documents, issues of confidentiality or the need to send large electronic files.

TNT Express has developed the SecurEdoc technology in conjunction with US software company NetEx. The service operated through a dedicated website.

TNT said the service reduced delivery time and the cost of physical distribution but also overcame the limitations of standard e-mail packages. The software allows bulky graphics, text and attachments to be sent at high speed.
