This week in iOS Tim Cook stirred the no laptop needed pot, Firefox hit iOS, and an analyst stated Apple's A9X CPU will threaten Intel.

Tim Cook travels with just iPad Pro and iPhone

Apple CEO Tim Cook fanned the fire on the "iPad is good enough" debate with a recent admission that he doesn't use a laptop when travelling. He stated that he now travels with an iPad Pro and iPhone, leaving the MacBook behind.

He probably has an Apple Watch along, too.

Firefox hits iOS

After a preview period in New Zealand, the Firefox app is now available everywhere on iOS. The free browser has many features that long-time Firefox users have enjoyed.

Note that the iOS version of Firefox does not use the Gecko rendering engine as Apple insists browsers use its WebKit engine.

Report: Apple's iPad Pro with A9X CPU a threat to Intel

Investment firm Cowen and Company believe that the powerful new A9X processor in the iPad Pro will pose a threat to Intel. The reason given is that the new CPU from Apple is more powerful than the Intel Core M processor.

iWorks apps updated for Mac and iOS

The three apps in the iWorks suite, Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, were updated this week. The updates fixed a number of known issues, including the inability of Numbers to open at its last saved position.
