If you're an IT professional who has recently been tasked with keeping tabs on green technology issues, here's another info site you might want to monitor that is affiliated with the Lean and Green Program.

Called Lean & Green: Reducing IT Energy Drain for Business Gain, the site's mission is to offer tips on reducing power usage and cutting costs through more efficient IT and data storage strategies. A caveat: It is sponsored by BlueArc and the Business Performance Management Forum, so there definitely is a bias in the information being published there. (Of course, I have a bias, too.) To their credit the organizations have gone out and assembled an outside advisory board of those with a broader environmental view.

The main resource that the site is touting to kick things off is a white paper that looks to be chock-full of stats that an IT manager can use to assess corporate data center strategy and to make the argument for changes or investments. (Yes, of course, you have to register to get your hands on it.) There are also case studies from BlueArc customers.

The group also is trying to collect some data of its own about green IT initiatives. If you feel like contributing your point of view, here's the link.
